I have had a long time passion for popcorn. I would eat popcorn everyday if I could. My love of popcorn started in grade school when they would sell popcorn after school on Friday’s for a quarter a bag. They sold plain and cheddar, cheddar was my favorite and I would scrounge up money to get my Friday fix.
When my husband went away on business trips, before we had our daughter (now I have to set a better example), I would survive on popcorn, shrimp and Popsicles (not together but as separate courses in well rounded diet). That would be about all I ate the entire time he was gone, it was awesome and no one could tell me I had to eat better.
Now that I am a responsible parent (I hear you snickering!), popcorn is more of a snack in our house but one that my daughter and I share a strong love for.
G.H. Cretors was kind enough to send me their Sampler pack to try and share with you my popcorn loving readers. I couldn’t say yes fast enough, I love their Chicago mix and was super excited to try their other flavors.
When we first stumbled upon the G.H. Cretors Chicago Mix popped corn at COSTCO, we were beyond excited. It was the perfect mix of sweet and salty with the Carmel and Cheese combination. I love me some cheese popcorn but the caramel was to die for. While sharing the bag with my daughter, we found that we were made for this mix, she would eat a little of the caramel but mostly liked the cheese (more salty than sweet) where I loved the caramel and ate a little of the cheese (more sweet than salty).
In the variety pack, you get 5 bags of their delicious popped corn: Chicago Mix, Just the Caramel Corn, Kettle Corn, Caramel Nut Crunch, and Just the Cheese Corn. They all come packaged in a fabulous case
My favorite of course is Just the Caramel and my daughter’s is Just the Cheese but we love all the flavors. The Caramel Nut Crunch is also a forerunner as it blends the Just the caramel with cashews and almonds (excellent choice of nuts since I am not a fan of walnuts). My husband is not as much of a popcorn fiend as our daughter and I but I have caught him swiping a few handfuls of the Chicago mix and more than a few of the Kettle Corn flavor.
I had to swipe a couple of the bags and hide them at work so that they would not disappear when I was away. It is amazing how fast popcorn disappears in our house, I swear we must have a ghost or someone living in the attic who steals my food, either that or maybe I sleep eat (MMMM Popcorn).
G.H. Cretors keeps to tradition by making its popped corn the old fashioned way (in copper kettles by hand!). G.H. Cretors popped corn is all natural, free of GMO’s, artificial colors or flavors and is gluten free. They are also Kosher certified and the Kettle Corn is vegan.
Suffice to say the G.H. Cretors Sampler Pack did not last long in the Over Thirty Mommy house and we will continue to purchase it when we find it at our local COSTCO’s and New Seasons Markets.
Also noteworthy: GH Cretors is run by moms! Claire Cretors (popcorn president) and her mom Phyllis are carrying on the corn popping tradition of great-great-great Grandpa Cretors who invented the popcorn machine in 1885. It’s a family affair J.
